WELCOME TO THE HOVE LAGOON MODEL YACHT CLUB  (HLMYC) WEBSITE

We are a small, friendly club with a long tradition - model boats have been sailed and raced on Hove Lagoon since the 1930s. The address of the Lagoon is Wharf Road, Hove, BN3 4LW.

Weather-permitting we meet every Sunday from 10:00 to 14:00, usually to race radio-controlled International One Metre (IOM) class yachts. See our 2022 Diary webpage.

ALREADY AN IOM OWNER?

If you're already an IOM owner and are interested in racing with us, please also get in touch via our Contact page on this site. The salt water Lagoon is a good sailing location - no reed problems, pretty consistent winds, good visibility, access to boats on three sides (we also operate a rescue dinghy), cafe and toilets close-by. Members' skill levels range from beginners to participants in national competitions.

NEW TO RADIO-CONTROLLED YACHT RACING?

You'll find some basic information about racing IOM yachts on our Useful Info webpage. But by far the best way to get yourself an introduction to the sport is to come along on a Sunday morning to watch and chat to some of our members. Contact us in advance via our Contact webpage and we'll arrange to get you along to show you what's involved, let you have a go at driving one of the boats.
